Coventry Canal Predator Fishing
Today and yesterday Dawson and Will braved a rainy and cold day to go lure fishing for predator fish down the Coventry canal at Polesworth. The area we fish is about half a mile long and around 2 meters deep at its deepest and is at most 8 meters wide. The lures we were using are the 8cm Korum Snapper Drones in the goldfish , perch, and roach patterns. We found the goldfish pattern to be the best especially in the heavily colored water of the canal. We got down to the water and within 20 minutes Will had hooked in to his first ever pike. Even though it was small it was a nice and lively fish. A few minutes later will had another fish on his line: a baby zander. he also was having aggressive bumps from a larger zander but it was spooked by a large canal barge which also stirred up the silt and mud on the bottom of the canal, further reducing visibility.Over the course of the weekend we also had several nice sized perch.
